  • The 1852 is situated in the heart of the Queens Quarter (aka the Food & Drinks Quarter), on Lower Crescent (one of Belfast’s prettiest streets). We are close to the Queens University Belfast, and less than 300m from Belfast’s Botanic Gardens. The majority of Belfast’s most popular tourist attractions are within easy walking distance.

Our location is right in the heart of the Southside. See us on the map.

  • No! Our hotel is completely self check-in. You can follow the link in your email confirmation and complete online check-in in advance of your arrival. Alternatively we have a check-in screen in the hotel lobby. Don’t panic - if you are really stuck, we have staff on site who are happy to help.

  • ‘Bustling’ is a good word to describe The 1852. We have two large bars on our ground floor, both of which tend to be popular with Belfast locals every night of the week. We have sweet background tunes all day every day - music loud enough to create an atmosphere but quiet enough that you don’t have to shout.

  • Studio Terry and Carters Workshop both contributed to the interiors of The 1852 Hotel. Most of our furniture and fittings were custom made in Northern Ireland.

  • So glad you asked! The answer is no - we have built The 1852 Hotel around our busy bars: Town Square and Southside Social. We brew world class coffee in our café and we have a decent cocktail offerings in both our bars.

If you feel the need to venture out of the hotel, loads of Belfast’s best eateries and watering holes are situated within a 30 second walk of our front door: Laverys, The Empire, Holohan’s Pantry, Molly’s Yard and Woodworkers, to name a few. The Queens Quarter is renowned for having a massive numbers of eateries.

  • Each one of our rooms has a king sized bed, a John Ryan pocket sprung mattress, a TV, a security safe and a desk with a chair. Our rooms are very simple, but our beds are extremely comfortable.
Our hotel was originally built in 1852, so there is no lift. If this poses a problem, please give us a ring and we will be able to accomodate you in our sister hotel.

  • The age old question. Every room is the same price and all rooms are pre-allocated on a first come, first served basis. However, if you want to weigh up your chances, here are the stats:

You have an 80% chance of getting a room with a view of the street. You have a 70% chance of getting a room with 2 or more windows. You have a 15% chance of getting a corner room with views of 2 streets. You have a 20% chance of getting a room on the top floor. If you book a ‘reduced rate’ room, it will be on the first floor directly above our bars

  • No.

  • We hate slow internet as much as you do! We use fibre optic broadband with ample wifi points and have a computer geek on hand to deal with any issues.

  • No. Unfortunately we do not have a lift due to the fact that the 1852 building is over 150 years old. If you absolutley need a lift then you can check out our other hotel - The Flint.

  • Not a lot - we have you mostly covered! We provide soap, shampoo, bath gel, towels, coffee & tea, etc. The housekeeping team will service your room on a daily basis! There is also a laundry right next door if you need to get your clothes washed. You must have a photographic ID to complete online check in.

  • No! We are owned by 2 Belfast brothers. We also own The Flint , Town Square and Southside Social, which are situated in The Queens Quarter in South Belfast.

  • We don't have our own parking, but there is a car park across the road. You can pull up right in front of our reception to drop off your bags, but you cannot leave your car unattended before 6pm, or you will quickly become a victim of the Red Coat parking attendants.

(1 minute walk) HandyPark, 1 Posnett St, Queens Quarter, Belfast, BT7 1BU

There is also free ‘on street’ parking available on Cameron Street (There are usually plenty of spaces available after the office workers go home at 5pm).
